Welcome to 'For Goodness Bake' (credit due here to my wonderful housemate). This is a blog about the things I love to bake. These recipes are either my own or I've adapted recipes from some of my favourite cook books. I'll always try and let you know where they came from!
There's something comforting in the idea that if you add this much flour, a few eggs, sugar and butter you'll get something that tastes fab. For me, the "control" you can have over ingredients is what makes baking fun. There is a science behind baking. For example, if you whisk egg whites you get soft white peaks - it's a fact. There is a real sense of achievement you get when people like what you bake. There is no bigger compliment than 'Can I have another slice...?' I've always loved to cook and that developed in to the baking bug I currently have.
My inspirations come from my favourite cooks and my family. I'm very lucky to have cooking heroes in my Mum, my Granny and my Grandma. So although I do read a lot of cook books, some of the recipes I'm going to share with you are family favourites - the things childhood's are made from.
There's a whole mixture of recipes on here from my favourite cupcakes to meals I love. I have some family recipes and also some of my own that I hope to pass down. It's not necessarily all about baking (however, that is what I love to do best) but also meals and skills I've learnt over my life. One thing in particular I find interesting is down to one of my housemates. He's a celiac so I've had to adapt some recipes to suit him as I always feel bad about leaving him out, so occasionally they'll be gluten-free recipes. It's a bit of a mess right now because there's not very much to organise and it all looks a bit random but over time I hope to achieve a clearer picture!
I really do hope you like it and even if all the recipes don't take your fancy just give ONE a go - I dare you not to love it :)
